On a chilly Sunday (21st November), but thankfully a dry day, Santa from, Rainhill RC, visited Haydock Park to help with the fundraising event organised jointly by the Willowbrook Hospice in Prescot, and the North West Air Ambulance for a magical Christmas day out on their first ever ‘Jingle Walk’.
Over two thousand families all wearing Christmas hats and reindeer antlers enjoyed the many attractions seeing their favourite fairytale characters
The main event was the ‘Jingle Walk’ led by Reindeers with all the children singing carols and then stopping to visit Santa at his grotto. As you can see from the photograph he was very busy listening to the children with their requests for Christmas day.
On their first ‘Jingle Walk’ Nicky Saunders, from the Willowbrook Hospice, said “We were very pleased that over 2000 families came along and helped to raise over £6000. She also wished to thank all the volunteers and Santa who helped to make the event a great success”. She added that already plans are in progress for next years Jingle Walk.
Last Saturday (27th November), our Santa and members helped Radio City volunteers to raise funds for their ‘Cash for Kids’, a helping hand for children at the Asda store in St.Helens.
Carole Clare, Charity manager for Radio City said “We raised over £200,000 over the Christmas period last year and the £645.88 collected on the day was a great boost to the start of this year’s campaign”.
Now we as a club start our street collection tomorrow weather permitting.
