This year's winner of the Wilf Ainscow "Ranger" Trophy for Bury Schoolboy Footballer of the Year as chosen by the Bury Metro Schools Football Association, is Matthew Jones of Bury Church of England High School.
Matthew is an all round sportsman who represents his school at football, athletics, cross country and basketball. He is a school sports captain and has recently been made Deputy Head Boy.
The trophy is presented in memory of Wilf Ainscow, a long serving member and past president of the Rotary Club of Bury. Wilf was a part owner and Editor of the Bury Times and covered Bury FC as a sports reporter under the pen-name of "Ranger".
Matthew joins a distinguished list of former winners and there is no doubt that Wilf would have considered him a truly worthy recipient of his Trophy.
Matthew is seen being presented with the Trophy by Rotarian Tony McCarthy, President of Bury Rotary Club.
