Louisa Walmsley from Papyrus was a guest speaker at Warrington Rotary Club. Papyrus is the UK charity dedicated to preventing young suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional well being.
Each year in the UK almost 1,400 young people between 15 and 34 take their own lives, more than 1,000 of these are young men. This is just the tip of the iceberg - thousands more contemplate suicide - many making serious attempts to harm themselves. Experts agree that many suicides are preventable.
The charity has a free national HOPELineUK and an outreach programme engaging with the local community, educating it to be suicide safe.
Louisa explained how the charities mental health professionals work with schools, colleges, universities and young offender institutes.
