Rotary Club of Prescot had an evening of fun and celebration on the 14th March 2012.
Following a wonderfully successful 6th Annual Fireworks evening back on the 5th November 2011 where we raised in excess of £28,000, producing a profit for our charity account on the night of £14,000. We are delighted to have been able to present Willowbrook Hospice with a cheque for £7,500 and a cheque to Zoe’s Place for £5,000; both Merseyside charities close the hearts of the members and supporters of the club.
The event would not be possible without the venue and this is graciously given completely free of charge by Paul Beesley and family, owners of Whitakers Garden Centre and Beesley and Fildes Builders Merchants. Without this venue located on Liverpool Road, Prescot and their continuing support this event would not be possible.
During the evening President, Philip Dyer and Chairman of the Fireworks Committee was able to explain how the event was organised and how the money in excess of £28,000, was raised, one amazing statistic was the amount of money collected through the gate on the night, the gates open at 5:30pm and close when the event starts at 7:00pmTeam Leader and Past President, Geoff Nulty and his team collected £12,755 in 90 Minutes! A remarkable £141 per minute through the gate!
