The Rotary Club of Westhoughton has just delivered its second consignment of 190 wheelchairs to Ghana. Rotarian Steve Harrington, along with Rotarian Milton Frary, the Trustee of the Rotary sponsored Wheelchair Foundation UK, travelled to the town of Sunyani in the south west of the country to present the chairs to local adults and children.
Local schools in Westhoughton and throughout the North West, generous individuals and service organisations had contributed £8,250.00 to fund the cost of the wheelchairs and enable the presentation to take place.
Two years ago, Steve, sponsored by the Westhoughton club, had travelled with his son, Simon, and Milton Frary to Tamale in the north of the country to present 110 wheelchairs. 160 disabled people came to the presentation, which meant forty of them went away disappointed.
