The recent Wigan Rotary Club ‘RUN 4 A LIFE’ event has been hailed as a success with over 250 people tackling the Haigh Hall course. Both the 10Km run or the 5Km family event were well supported.
Now in its eighth year Rotary Club President Venk Mani thanked all the people who took part and those who supported the event. He said’ We are delighted and grateful that so many people took part, and I hope they all enjoyed the day.
We would like to thank ASDA, Wigan Athletic and DW Sports Fitness for their support’. He continued ‘Last year we raised £10,000 towards research into testicular and prostate cancer and it would be great if we could do the same in 2012. So I am asking all the runners to try and collect as much sponsorship money as they can and send it to us by the end of November’.
All the money raised will go to The Everyman Campaign and the Men Matters Appeal which funds men’s cancer research at the Christie Hospital.
Arrangements are already in hand for the September 2013 event and Wigan Rotary Club are hoping more people will decide to take part. ‘Our task now is to complete this years event by collecting in all the sponsorship money.’ said Venk ‘ and I know I can count on all who took part to help us raise at least the same as last year’
