With runners from age five to seventy the recent Wigan Rotary Club RUN 4 A LIFE event has been hailed as a success with around 150 people tackling the 5Km course around the DW Stadium area.
Now in its ninth year the Rotary Club President Terry Hogan thanked all those who took part and supported the event. He said ‘We are delighted that so many people took part given it was so shortly after the Joining Jack event, and I hope all enjoyed the day. We would like to thank the DW Stadium, Wigan Athletic and ASDA for their support.’
He continued ‘ Last year we were able to donate three thousand five hundred pounds towards research into testicular and prostate cancers and it would be great to beat that total this year. So I am asking everyone who took part to try and collect as much sponsorship as possible and send it to us by the end of November.’ All the money raised will be donated to the local Men Matter Appeal Charity, which funds men’s cancer research at Christies Hospital.
Arrangements are already in hand for next years event and Wigan Rotary Club are hoping more people will decide to take part. ‘But first we need to complete this years event by collecting in all the sponsorship money,’ said Terry. ‘ I know I can count on all who took part to help us raise as much as possible for such an important cause.’
